When my sister got married two months back in a typical big-fat Marwadi fashion, everything was lit and glam. My relatives had booked a purani haveli to feed her desire of a palatial set-up, and it was a grand affair. That’s how Marwadi weddings are – heavy sarees, heavier jewellery and superlative of heavier defines our food as well!
Yes, our wedding ceremony lasts longer and stretches across 5-6 hours – thanks to the never ending rituals. But then they are fun, both on the luxurious side and the richness of food served. Our ceremonies remain different from other parts of the country that also includes Bhaat, Raatri Jaga, Mudda, Tilak, Telbaan, Sirguthi and Sajjan Goth.
Let me take you on our side of weddings through pictures:-
THE KINGLIKE PHOTOSHOOT
HEAVENLY DECOR SET-UP
ATTIRE THAT SPEAKS OF HERITAGE
JEWELLERY THAT DEFINES OPULENCE
MEHENDI THAT STANDS OUT OF WORLD
EVEN OUR GROOM APPLIES HENNA
THE ESSENCE OF BORLA MATHAPATTI
INSPIRATION FROM FOLKLORE
THE RICHNESS OF FOOD
AND IT CONCLUDES ON A HAPPY NOTE
India is a land of diverse cultures, and every culture has its own distinct way of celebration that truly speaks volumes of the diversity we enjoy. And the richness of Marwadi culture over the years has added the royal gleam and touch to our wedding space. These pictures stand as the true testament of how colourful, luxurious but deeply rooted our celebrations are, and we take pride in it.
